Lassa Fever Lecture 12th February

As part of the measures put in place by the Vice Chancellor and the management of the University of Benin to address the resurgence of the dreaded Lassa fever disease, a one day sensitization lecture entitled ‘Combatting Lassa fever: A National Health Challenge’ will be delivered by a foremost Lassa fever researcher,  former Vice Chancellor Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma: Professor Dennis Agbonlahor.

165th Inaugural lecture Takes Place

The event started by 4:00pm with the arrival of guests and the entry of the Chancellor’s procession. The PRO of the University , Mike Osasuyi recognised the principal officers present.
The principal officers present at the event where the Vice- Chancellor Prof Faraday Friday Osasere Orumwense, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) Prof Lawrence Ezemonye, Deputy Vice-Chancellor(Acad) Prof Abiodun Falodun , the deputy Vice-Chancellor (Ekehuan Campus) Prof Samuel Ereyi Aduwa-Ogiegbaen,the registrar And Secretary to The Council Mrs Otasowie A. Osodin and the Bursar Dr. Baba Bila.

The Registrar Mrs .A .O Oshodin Represented by the deputy Registrar introduced the Vice-Chancellor Prof Faraday Orumwense , the rep of the registrar welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and the principal officers of the university.The presence Directors, Deans, provosts,professors, student and invited guest where also recognised.The Vice- Chancellor Prof Faraday Orumwense declared the ceremony open. The Vice- Chancellor Prof Faraday Orumwense went through a short biography of Professor S.M.Ogbonmwan,after which Professor S.M Ogbonmwan was called upon to give his lecture titled” “Lifting Oneself With The Bootstrap: My research experience and other non-parametric paradigms”. The event closed at about 5.30p.m

USA Regional Fulbright Workshop and Education 2016 – Day 3

The programme began with the master of ceremony of the programme Professor Eddy Eragbe welcomed the members of the University management team led by The Vice-Chancellor Prof. F.F.O.Orumwense, FNSE. Members of the management team present where the DVC ( ACAD ) Prof. ABIODUN FALODUN,the DVC (Ekenwan Campus) His Royal Highness (Prof.) SAMUEL E.O. ADUWA-OGIEGBAEN  jp,The Busar, Dr. BABA BILA, FCNA and a representative of the registrar, MRS. O.A. OSHODIN.
The Public Affairs  Officer The American Embassy , (Public Affair Officer)  Dehab  Ghebreab was also at the event. She  introduced the  other members of the American team.In attendance were professors, lecturers, students; both undergraduate and postgraduate as well as staff of the University of Benin.more


USA Regional Fulbright Workshop and Education 2016 – Day 2

Our esteemed guests and invitees where acknowledged by Master of Ceremony and Fulbright Scholar Prof Eddy Eragbe. The Chairman of the day two’s event was  Prof (Mrs) Esther U Ikhuoria. She  invited  the first  speaker of the day, Prof J Bugatti to give her presentation. Prof Bugatti’s lecture was titled  “MY EXPERIENCE IN NIGERIA”. The Second speaker of the day was Mr Clemson  Ayebusi  who talked about some exchange opportunities sponsored by the US government, his talk was titled  THE STUDY OF THE U.S INSTITUTES FOR SCHOLARS.more

USA Regional Fulbright Workshop and Education 2016 – Day 1

The first day of the USA Regional Fulbright Workshop and Education 2016 was a huge success with academicians from various institutions of the country in attendance. The team from the USA Embassy were fully on ground to provide all the information to the audience about the Fulbright programme In the United States.

Also in attendance were professors, lecturers, students; both undergraduate and postgraduate as well as staff of the University of Benin. It was an educative, informative and fun-filled event. One of the highlights was the art exhibition which showcased various beautiful works of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts. Click here for more



The University of Benin Sports Centre headed by the Director of Sports, Dr. (Mrs.) F.I. Egbase unveiled her plans and schedules for the 2015/2016 academics session in a meeting held on Tuesday the 8th of December, 2015 at the main bow of the Sports Complex.
On the 16th of January, 2016, the annual University Marathon Race will kick off the session sporting activities while from January 11th to 6th of February 2016, the Deans’ Cup for various faculties will also commence in preparation for the Vice Chancellors cup which is the ground finally of all the University of Benin students sports activities, was proposed to kick off from the 16th of May to the 28th of May, 2016.
However, the University Director of Sports also stated that if any Principal University Programme happens to come up on any of the proposed dates, the event is subject to change.
In attendance were Coaches in-charge of Faculties, Faculties Sports (Officer Coordinators), Students Faculty Director of Sports, and also the present Students’ Union Government Director of Sports, Ogbedegbe John.
