In continuation of his strategic engagement with critical stakeholders,  the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor Edoba  Omoregie, SAN, has visited the Director General, National Institute for Sports, and former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu
at the Institute’s Headquarters in Abuja. 
The Vice Chancellor said the visit is to strengthen the existing partnership and forge new areas of collaboration between the University of Benin and the Sports Institute.
He explained that the selection of the University of Benin as a Centre of Excellence in Sports in the South South by the federal government makes the collaboration between the two organisations salutary.
Professor Omoregie thanked the Director General for his kind gestures to the University of Benin before now and sued for more support, while commending the NIS DG for revamping the Institute ‘s infrastructure. 
Comrade Shaibu  acknowledged the Vice Chancellor’ s  visit, extending the appreciation of the Management and staff of the National Institute for Sports for the honour.
He noted that  a collaboration between UNIBEN and NIS will be mutually  beneficial  as it will assist in the development of the critical manpower needed for the advancement of Sports and Education. 
Highlight of the visit was a facility tour of the newly renovated and furnished Auditorium as well as  the 200 rooms students hostel of the Institute.
The Uniben VC was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Registrar, Abuja Office, Mr Lucky Ikharo.
