The event which was held on the 30th of August, 2018 at the Akin-Deko Auditorium had in attendance the VC, DVC Academics, DVC Administration, DVC Ekenwan Campus, the Bursar, the Liberian, Provosts, Deans, Directors, Rep of Ondo State governor, Rep of the Minister of State Health, Past VC UNIBEN, Past VC Ambrose Alli University, VC Igbinedion University, VC Tayo Akpata University of Education, Director Institute of Management studies Usen, Reps from NEIPA, Chief Oliha of Benin, Royal fathers, Family, Friends, Relatives and others too numerous to mention.
The event kicked off with the procession, National and school Anthem. The Register introduced the VC’s procession who in turn invited the VC to introduce the lecturer of the day. He noted that it is the 59th in his tenure and the 23rd in the Faculty of Education. Prof. Salami was born on the 8th of August 1956 and obtained her Phd in 1991. She was the first female dean in the Faculty of Education. She has supervised 10 Phd and 45 Masters Students in Vocational Education. She is happily married with children and blessed with grandchildren.She defined nutrition as the science that deals with food for the purpose of growth and nourishment. She solved some everyday problems which includes: sugar and honey which is better? Can supplements be used as substitute in place of food? Can fruits be taken on an empty stomach? And how harmful is red meat? She noted that that sugar has lower calories than honey and moderation is needed. She also made known that coconut oil contains 92% saturated fat. The venue was beautifully decorated with friends and lovers all in attendance. The event ended with the Prof. being decorated in the presence of her son.
