4th International Gender Conference – News and Photo Gallery

The event which was held on Monday 24th of September, 2018 had in attendance the DVC Administration who represented the VC, DVC Academics, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Mrs. Yinka Omorogbe who represented the Executive Governor of Edo State, Justice Ehigiamusoe who represented who represented the Chief Judge of Edo State, Professor Chidi Anslem Odinkalu, Professor Agatha Eguavoen, Rep of the bursar, Former MD Central Hospital, Reps of the Ministry of women affairs, Reps of the United Nations Women, Reps of AFPA women forum, Prof. E.U. Edosomwan, Reps Of Egor Local Government Chairman, Some Students and Staffs of U.D.S.S, Various Deans, H.O.D’s, Staffs and Students of the University.
The event began with the introduction of guests at the high table followed by the National, School and Opening Prayers by Ven. Osaze David Egbenusi. Various Addressees were thereby taken by the Director Centre of General Studies, the Chairman Management Committee, Centre for Gender Studies, the VC and the Executive Governor of the state.

The keynote speaker Professor Chidi Anslem Odinkalu talked on the topic “Gender Empowerment: Implications for sustainable National Development. He noted that gender sensitivity is over and gender sensible is real. He made note of the three G’s (Gender, Geography and Generation) and mentioned that they must be adhered to move the nation forward. He advised that a legitimate governance must be put in place to move the nation forward and also noted that gender sensibilities comes with responsibilities. There were also goodwill messages from the United Nations Women, Justice Ehigiamusoe from the Chief Judge Edo State, Chairperson Women Interest group for African Bar Association.

Another programme of event was a plenary lecture by Professor Agatha N.T. Eguavoen on the topic: “Gender Social Representation and the National Gender Policy” where she advocated that women should be fully represented in the society. She also noted that we are all equal and that no man is above any woman. Awards were then presented to the governor, Keynote speaker, plenary speaker, DVC Administration and Professor E.U Edosomwan. The event then ended with the vote of thanks by the L.O.C Chairman Dr. O.M. Uhumwangho and the closing prayers by Rev. Fr. Andrew Obiyan.
