The Graduation event of the 44th Convocation Ceremony took place on the 22nd of November 2018.
The convocation started with the procession of graduands into the auditorium according to their various faculties in alphabetical order. Thereafter followed by the academic procession, then the uniben alumni, followed by members of congregation, then the members of senate and lastly the chancellors profession.
The ceremony began officially with the national anthem and the uniben anthem. The school registrar called on the chancellor to declare the convocation open. The vice-chancellor Prof F. F. O Orunwense who stood on behalf of the Chancellor formally declared the convocation open, hereafter he addressed the audience.
A total of 11,832 graduands convocated with:
- 134 of them having First Class degree
- 2122 Second Class Upper
- 4864 Second Class Lower
- 1156 Third Class
- 1 Pass Degree
- 2207 Masters Degree
- 559 Postgraduate Degree, including others.
Awards and prizes were presented to the best students and the graduands were all awarded with their degrees. The overall best graduating student for this year’s convocation was Oluwakemi Osarunwense Igiehon of the department of microbiology, faculty of life sciences. She delivered a valedictory speech on behalf of all the graduands.
The convocation cake was then cut by the Vice Chancellor, Registrar and the graduating students.
The registrar called on the chancellor to declare the convocation closed, the Vice-chancellor who stood on behalf of the chancellor declared the convocation closed and it ended with the Uniben anthem and the procession out of the auditorium.
