The World Academy of Sciences Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Partner (TWAS-SAREP), which is
hosted by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf),has awarded a University of Benin Academic,Dr Etinosa Ogbomoede Igbinosa as the winner of the 2018 TWAS-SAREP Regional Young Scientist’s Prize.
This is a prestigious prize aimed at fulfilling TWAS’ objective of recognising, supporting and promoting scientific capacity and excellence in the developing world. Dr Etinosa Ogbomoede Igbinosa is honoured with this scientific prize for the significant contribution made to research, development and capacity building to improve sustainability of water and sanitation-related activities and programmes in the developing world. This includes water harvesting; desalination; water efficiency; pollution reduction; elimination of dumping and minimisation of the release of hazardous chemicals and materials; protection and restoration of water-related ecosystems; wastewater treatment, recycling and reusing technologies.
