Next Monday, February 11, will mark the 4th International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This day was recognized by the United Nations in light of the global need “to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.”
As in past years, we would like to invite you to celebrate this day with OWSD by taking part in a social media campaign. This year, the theme of the campaign will be #IAdmire. We want to hear about a woman scientist that you admire — whether it’s someone you know personally, like a mentor, colleague, or student, or someone who’s made great achievements in your field, or a trailblazing scientist like Ada Lovelace or Marie Curie.
To participate, simply post on any social media platform (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) between now and February 11 using the hashtag #IAdmire, and explain what inspires you about the woman you chose. Please feel free to include photos too, so we can put a face to all of these remarkable women.
