The Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (SPESSE) of the University of Benin invites applications for admission into its Executive Short Course in Social standards. SPESSE (UNIBEN) is a program approved by the World Bank and the National Universities Commission (NUC) for building capacity for addressing national development challenges in Procurement, Environmental, and Social Standards.
The Executive Short Course in Environmental Standards is an in-service capacity development program for public servants, private and civil society personnel, graduates and the unemployed who are active in Environmental standards responsibilities and or who wish to acquire professional skills to foster their understanding, knowledge, and skills in the discipline.
Topics: Some of these include the following: 1) Environment and Social Safeguards;
2) Environmental and Social safeguards: Risks, Impacts and Coverage; 3) Overview of the Environmental Policy, Legal and Regulatory Framework and Guidelines in Nigeria; 4) Environmental and Social Framework of the World Bank; 5) Assessment of the Environmental and Social Standards 6) Environment and Social Management System (ESMS); 7) Environmental Sustainability and Management; 8) Environmental Impact and Post-Impact Assessment Process; 9) Overview of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment; 10) Environmental Auditing; 11) Municipal and Industrial Waste Management.
The course will cover a minimum of five days and will be held virtually.
Applicants should be public servants, private and civil society personnel, and graduates who are engaged in environmental standards responsibilities in their places of work and or the unemployed who wish to acquire professional knowledge and skills in environmental standards.
