The University of Benin in preparation for her 46th and 47th Convocation Ceremonies and 51st Founder’s Day Celebration held a Press Briefing in the Senate Chambers of the University of Benin. Present for the event were journalists and members of the press from various media houses. Some of media houses represented were Radio Nigeria, AIT, NTA, ITV, etc.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. L.I. Salami chaired the occasion and also in attendance were the DVC Administration, DVC Academics, Registrar and Bursar

Vice-Chancellor Briefing of the Press
The Vice-Chancellor thanked all for being present and intimated the audience of the activities that will be on during the convocation ceremonies. She also solicited the support of all during the ceremonies. The Vice-Chancellor announced the installation of the new Chancellor of the University on the first day, Monday, 22nd of November, 2021. The program will run through to Saturday, 27th of November, 2021 when honorary degrees will be awarded to prominent Nigerians such as Gen. Danjuma (Rtd), Chief John Odigie, etc. Also former Vice-Chancellor Prof. O. Oshodin will be conferred the position of Professor Emeritus.
The Vice-Chancellor went to relate the various monumental milestones and achievements of her administration since she came into office. Some of the achievements includes:
- Remodeling of Main Auditorium
- Construction of General Car Park
- Asphalt Overlay of failed portions of roads
- Purchase of 3 units of Toyota Yaris Vehicles for sensitization on COVID-19
- Commencement of several building projects
- Accreditation of several academic programs in the University
She concluded her briefing by promising to deliver the best version of the University of Benin.
Remarks From Journalists
Reacting to the briefing was the President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists who appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the School management on behalf of the journalists for always acceding to the requests o f the journalists. He mentioned in particular the issue of admission of the wards and the children of the journalists. Other areas he commended the Vice-Chancellor was in the area of the beautification projects going on the school and improving the quality of water produced by the Uniben Water Factory.
