The University of Benin held its 3rd Professional Administrators Conclave on wednesday, 9th of May 2018. The Title of this year’s programme was entitled: “THE VALUE OF THE ADDING ADMINISTRATOR”.
There was in attendance the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. F.F.O. Orumwense and other members of the University Management staff.
The programme was hosted by the Publications Unit of the University and was held in the University of Benin Senate Chambers. There was a lot of pomp and activities as the programme brought together a cream of top level administrators and upcoming administrators within and beyond the University community.
There were several speakers at the event amongst whom are:
Mr Oladele Sotubo, Executive Director, Investment, Stanbic IBTC who gave a lecture on “Pension Retirement plan, A gateway to sustaining value. He explained that a retirement plan is a plan that provides income during retirement. It is savings and investment. retirement plan involves the activities of your first employment. He enjoined the audience to ask themselves the following questions:
- When will I retire?
- Retirement is not just about age.
- What will I do during my retirement?
Prof (MRS) A.W ALUTU who gave a lecture on the topic “Emotion Intelligence (EI) a tool for value adding Administrator”. She made it clear that an administrator is one who manages and organizes human and material resources to attain goals of the establishment. To successfully carry out these functions, there is need for some level of professionalism, knowledge and integrity. She explained that there are 5 Important skills of Emotional Intelligence
- Self – Awareness
- Self – Regulation
- Social skills
Engr . Namandi Ezeigbo MD/CEO Slot System LTD also gave a lecture on the topic “Entrepreneurship, the gateway for sustained value adding capacity”. He said that entrepreneurship is defined as the capacity to organize and develop and an entrepreneur is someone who transfers ideas to new products.
The entire programme was praised by participants as very educative and inspiring.
