The Director, Centre for Gender Studies, University of Benin, Prof. Adefunke Adekunle recently embarked on a familiarization visit to some State agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations within Benin metropolis to promote and deepen its collaboration on development need-based activities towards addressing gender issues in Nigeria.
Some of the agencies visited includes, The Edo State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, The Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria Iyanomon and The Centre for Population and Environmental Development.
At the Edo State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Barbara Osobajo warmly welcomed Prof. Adekunle to the ministry and expressed the Ministry’s readiness to partner with the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Benin on area of mutual interest.
Also, in her visit to Dr. Mrs. L.N. Dongo, the Executive Director of the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria, Prof. Adekunle intimated her of the Centre’s programs and activities and willingness to partner with her organisation.
In her response, Dr. Dongo thanked Prof. Adekunle for the visit and assured her of a mutually beneficial partnership.
At the Centre for Population and Environmental Development, (CPED) the Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Job Eronmhonsele was on ground to receive Prof. Adefunke Adekunle and her team from the Centre for Gender Studies. Mr. Eronmhonsele thanked the Director for the visit and harped on the need for a formal meeting between the Executive Director of the Centre, Prof. Richard Onokhoraye.
The Director was accompanied on the visit by Mr. Patrick Eganbor, Mrs. Ehisumwen Eriamiantoe and Mr. Blessed Jattoh.
