The University of Benin witnessed a significant boost of the Institution’s technological infrastructure following the donation of networking equipment worth thousands of dollars by Interswitch ltd; a leading African integrated payments and digital commerce company, in collaboration with global technology giant, Cisco Systems.
The donated equipment, comprising two high-performance servers, firewall and switches, are expected to significantly enhance, first, the Cisco Academy domiciled in the University, while the extra switches will be used to improve internet access speed and facilitate seamless digital learning and research activities.
The intervention has been described by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, as timely as it addresses a critical need for robust and reliable network infrastructure to support the growing demands of modern education in an increasingly digital world.
The Vice Chancellor thanked Interswitch and Cisco for supporting, in a most practical way, his agenda of improving internet access by staff and students of the University.
