The University of Benin has won the Grant Award instituted by the Nigeria Youth Employment Through Skills Acquisition Funds (NYETSAF) qualifying the University to be engaged as a Training Service Provider in poultry farming by the Federal Ministry of Education, working with the World Bank.

The NYETSAF is a World Bank initiative under the Innovation, Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project.

The recommendation of the University of Benin after a successful competitive proposal was conveyed to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, by the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Christopher Emokaro.

For a start, the University is to enrol one hundred trainees in poultry farming.

This development is part of the realisation of one of the Five-point Agenda of the Professor Edoba Omoregie administration which is to position the University as an innovative capacity building and skills acquisition hub across professions, disciplines and vocations.
