A 20 – member Ministerial committee to review sports- related courses and develop sports curricula in Nigerian Universities was today inaugurated in Abuja.

The Honorable Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, CON, who inaugurated the committee, said the objective is to reposition sports as a major economic driver for national development.

The Minister who also formally announced the selection of the University of Benin as one of the six Centres of Excellence in Sports, expressed confidence that the University will successfully lead the Sports revolution in the South South geopolitical zone of the country.

The Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, is a member of the Committee.
