As part of its 51st Convocation and 55th Founders’ Day ceremonies, the University of Benin (UNIBEN) held an Interfaith Service at the Akin Deko Auditorium, which marks the formal beginning of the Convocation Week. The Interfaith Service is being organised as part of a series of Convocation Events, including the Founders’ Day Lecture and Degree Award Ceremonies.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Edoba Omoregie emphasised that the upcoming Convocation is special because the 2024/2025 academic calendar “has run smoothly and without a hitch.” The Interfaith Service underscores UNIBEN’s commitment to religious inclusivity and the importance of spiritual reflection in academic milestone events.

It also signals the role of faith and community in marking not just academic success, but institutional identity and unity.

The week-long ceremony, culminating in the Convocation, brings together spiritual, intellectual, and institutional elements — combining worship, lectures, and recognition of academic achievement.
