The University is marking its 55th Founders’ Day in conjunction with its 51st Convocation. The Convocation started with an inter-faith service to open the celebrations, which was held on Sunday, 23 November 2025 at the Akin Deko Auditorium, while today, 24th November 2025, the 55th Founders’ Day Ceremony was also held in the same venue, with the Founders’ Day Lecture delivered by Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Regional Development and an Alumnus of the University with his topic: “Reforms for a Shared Prosperity”.
The Vice-Chancellor, Edoba Omoregie, SAN, noted that his administration is building on the achievements of its predecessors through a five-point agenda aligned with strategic goals.
The 2024/2025 academic calendar is said to have “run smoothly and without a hitch.”
The event serves as both a celebration of the institution’s founding legacy (55 years) and a recognition of the current batch of graduates.
The choice of topics (“Reforms for a Shared Prosperity”) underscores the University’s orientation toward national development and institutional excellence.
The smooth running of the academic calendar is highlighted as an achievement in itself, reinforcing confidence in the institution’s governance.
