In a rare demonstration of the give back spirit, an alumnus of the University of Benin, Engr. Osaro John Igiede, has donated a bus load of books to the University.

The books, spanning a variety of academic disciplines including Engineering, Law, Accounting, Philosophy, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Sociology, were presented to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, by Engr Igiede in the company of his wife and other family members.

Engr Igiede, who is a senior systems analyst in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, said although this was his fourth donation to the University, having studied the new administration of Professor Omoregie and the zeal with which the Vice Chancellor piloted the University’s affairs, he was encouraged and decided to support him to advance the course of knowledge.

An obviously elated Vice Chancellor, Professor Omoregie, thanked the donor and his family for the wonderful gesture which will further promote his desire for excellent academic performance by staff and students.

Professor Omoregie described the donation as a wish come true as he had only a few days earlier indicated to his Management team his plan to overhaul the library and acquire modern books to complement the e-library.

Engr Osaro Igiede is a I991 graduate of Chemical Engineering of the University of Benin.
