The Management of the University of Benin has received a donation of Jewel Suite Software and Hardware as well as work stations worth millions of dollars from Baker Hughes; a leading multinational company with subsidiaries in the petroleum, oil and gas industry.
The facilities are deployed for training of postgraduate students at the University’s Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie,SAN, who received the donations on behalf of Management thanked the company, and also the team lead, Mr. David Odofin, for facilitating the donations.
The Vice Chancellor described the gesture as wonderful as it complements the university’s efforts of training industry ready graduates.
On his part, the team lead, Mr Odofin said Baker Hughes has in the past donated equipment to the University as part of their corporate social responsibility. He said the donation of requisite soft and hard wares to the Centre of Excellence is in response to the Vice Chancellor’s emphasis on turning out skilled graduates who will not be novices in the job market.
Present at the handover ceremony were Principal Officers of the University , the Director of the Centre , Professor Difference Ogagurue and other top Management staff from Baker Hughes.
