The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin,Prof. Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN,has officially commissioned the Post-Harvest Hub at the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Food Science and Nutrition.
The new hub is aimed at improving research and innovation in food preservation, processing, and reducing post-harvest losses. It will serve as a center for training, research, and industry collaboration to enhance food security and agricultural sustainability.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the university’s commitment to agricultural development and innovation. “This hub will play a vital role in advancing food science research and equipping students with practical skills to address post-harvest challenges,” he stated.
The commissioning was attended by faculty members, students, and industry stakeholders, who praised the initiative as a step toward improving food sustainability in Nigeria.
